Shwedagon Pagoda during the Second Anglo-Burmese War in I852

'British troops drive a Burmese army before them as they race towards Rangoon's towering Shwedagon Pagoda during the Second Anglo-Burmese War in I852. The soldiers were astonished to find the Buddhist temple, focus of the country's religious life, covered in pure gold.'
